Jay Herbrand: Sun-Star couldn’t find any food pioneers here?
I was happy to see the March 31 special section on “Food Pioneers.” However, after reading the section I was very disappointed. The piece featured great food pioneers, but not a single one was from Merced County. I know the section was done by the parent company of the Merced Sun-Star because all the author bylines were from The Sacramento Bee, The Modesto Bee and The Fresno Bee. Merced County has many food pioneers, so why not one from our county?
I had hoped the writers and editors putting the section together would have considered this for a section included in the Merced Sun-Star.
