David Garcia: Drug abusers must be accountable for their tragic choices
Re “Opioid abuse epidemic gets closer to home” (Our View, April 2): I understand the article referred to illegal street drugs, their supply and use. Your “view” that somehow it is the public’s responsibility to treat and cure the drug abusers says nothing about them taking responsibility for their own actions. People know it is illegal to take illegal drugs. People must realize there are repercussions to all actions, especially illegal ones, and be held accountable for those actions.
It is my “view” that without illegal drug users you don’t have illegal drug dealers. As simplistic and uncompassionate as this may sound, the problem (for lack of a better term) seems to be solving itself.
