Charles Morris: Fed up with those who fail to bring business to Merced
Whoever the city of Merced has employed to bring new businesses to the city should be fired for gross incompetence. Just look at neighboring cities of similar, mostly smaller, populations – Turlock, Tulare, Hanford and Porterville. All have much larger malls, many more retails outlets and restaurants. Merced has so much to offer – a large population base, a university and associated students, a large community college, highway access, an Amtrak depot and tourists traveling to Yosemite. I moved to Merced from the Visalia/Tulare area and Merced, in comparison, is a backwater, a small-minded, “old-boy” business community; the board of supervisors and community development people are a disgrace.
