Larry D. Morse II: DA’s Silveira first female attorney in management, not first woman manager

Re “Silveira first woman to hold DA’s office management post” (Page 2A, April 22): Thank you for the article on prosecutor Nicole Silveira’s promotion to supervisor in the District Attorney’s office. I would like to make one small, but significant, clarification. Silveira is the first woman attorney to become a manager in our office. We have had five women in important management positions in our office for many years, including our victim witness division and IT operations.

As those familiar with our office know, the director of administrative services, Jeannette Pacheco, has long been the straw that stirs the drink in the management of our 65 full time and 10 part-time employees.

The people of Merced County are being well served by all the dedicated employees of the District Attorney’s office and it continues to be my greatest honor to work with each of them.

Larry D. Morse II, District Attorney, Merced
