Melvin Ladousier: Republican voters don’t care about Trump’s tax returns
Re “Delegates should declare: No tax returns, no GOP nomination” (Page 9A, May 14): The IRS is auditing Donald Trump’s income tax filings as I write this. Republican delegates elected for Trump should be bound to vote for him in the convention. Obama refused to produce his birth certificate, but no one in the Democratic party suggested that delegates not vote for him. Trump’s tax returns are irrelevant to his candidacy.
Republicans like Mitt Romney are looking for any means to deny the will of Republican voters. It does not matter that the Republican leadership doesn’t like him. The people want him to run against the Democrats. You reply that honesty is important in a presidential candidate, but look at Clinton’s honesty. A record that would make a pathological liar blush. We live in a republic, governed by laws. The Republican Party has rules to follow. Is the Party communist or democratic?
