Chad Orton: Sun-Star shouldn’t mock those who have seen UFOs

Re “Would Hillary welcome little green women?” (Page 5A, May 17): I’m distressed that your editorial board has joined the chorus of those who sneer at anyone who says they have seen an unidentified flying object. Have you never spent any significant time out of doors? Anyone who has, undoubtedly has seen things they couldn’t identify. I have seen a bright glowing disk trailing green fire that I strongly suspect was a bit of space junk left over from a rocket launch. I sure don’t speculate about little green men or any other form of extra-terrestrials. But, since I can’t identify it for certain I have to call it unknown, don’t I?

Should I sneer at you if you say you saw an unidentified man crossing the street, or mention that you can’t identify a new building in town? UFO simply means something was seen in the sky that wasn’t identified. So, what’s to sneer at?
