David J. Silva: No wonder Trump appeals, the nation is faltering
Recently, a friend told me that since the Obama administration took office 7 and a half years ago, the country is in better shape. After much research, this is what I found. National debt almost doubled from $10 trillion to $19 trillion, at a cost of $400 billion a year to service it. Double the number of people on food stamps and welfare. The lowest labor participation rate in 40 years. School test scores are dropping. Even though it is against federal law, the government is giving more and more money and services to illegal aliens and the minority crime and murder rate is higher now. More than 60 percent of the people think the economy is in bad shape.
If people were satisfied with the direction that our country is going, Donald Trump wouldn’t even be running for president much less be the Republican candidate. After looking over this list, I have come to the conclusion that my friend played football without a helmet.
