Barbara Ratzlaff: Smoking lounge doesn’t make sense for Livingston

Re “Counties earn an F on tobacco policies” (Page A1, Jan. 23): Reading the article, I have a question for our Livingston City Council. The article talks about the counties earning an F on tobacco polices. My question is this, why would you agree to a smoking lounge in the city of Livingston? You had police chief Ruben Chavez’s comment about the negative impacts it could make on our young people. When I say young people, I mean those who could supply younger people. I know we need business in Livingston, but a smoking lounge does not seem to be the answer.

Please rethink this issue and vote against it after your final reading in the February meeting.
