Huber Munoz: Loretta Sanchez best qualified for the Senate
With California’s June primary right around the corner, there is one candidate fit for the job to replace retiring U.S Sen. Barbara Boxer. That candidate is Rep. Loretta Sanchez. As a proud product of Mexican immigrant parents, in her time in Congress she has been a strong advocate for immigration reform and believes it to be the “moral imperative of our time.” She has worked tirelessly to create jobs, rebuild our crumbling transportation infrastructures, support quality educational opportunities and increase affordable health care for everyone.
Twenty years have also led to her making some tough votes that have placed her on the right side of history, such as voting against the Iraq war and the Wall Street bailout, even when these votes were highly unpopular at the time.
Unlike her Democratic opponent, Rep. Sanchez is familiar with the issues facing the Central Valley. As a candidate for the U.S Senate she has made countless efforts to visit cites in the Central Valley, including Merced, which are often forgotten by politicians. With 20 years of legislative experience under her belt, there is no doubt Congresswoman Sanchez is the most qualified candidate to be California’s next U.S Senator.
