Joe Zack: Trump’s ‘racism’ comment sets him up to win even if he loses

Donald Trump said there might be some bias in the case against Trump University because of the judge’s Mexican heritage. He also said the Mexican people were a very proud people and his plan of building of a wall between the U.S. and Mexico might influence the judge’s decision.

The majority of people jumped on this as racist, but consider a couple of scenarios that Trump has created. First, the judge sits on the bench for this trial and Trump is found to be in the wrong. Trump will say “See, I told you so.”

Or second, the judge recuses himself and Trump is vindicated because it will appear even the judge thinks he might be biased.

Finally, powerful Republicans or powerful Democrats have the judge replaced to show fairness. Now they have become the very thing they are accusing Trump of being, regardless of the outcome. So you see, Trump has created the perfect storm. One in which he wins even if he loses the decision in this case.

It’s easier now to understand why Trump is a successful businessman and negotiator and to see how he waded through that large field of primary opponents. A very, very shrewd individual.
