Alyce Crider: Trucker rode to the rescue for motorist

Monday morning just North of Atwater, I had a flat tire. This was the first flat in 20 years. I was reading the instruction book on the use of the jack, when trucker Luis Umava stopped and offered assistance. I was more than thankful, as he soon discovered that the spare tire was also flat. He took the extra time to use his air compressor to pump up the spare and made sure everything was OK. We have thanked him via phone, but any truckers who might know Luis, please extend added thanks.

Let everyone know that the spare tire needs to be periodically checked. I was told this is part of the routine during servicing a car, but evidently it never had been done. Luis Umava, you are truly a good Samaritan!
