Fernando Echevarria: Be sure to vote out those who refuse to listen
Diversity is the key to success in local government. Citizen oversight committees should direct the control of tax-based expenditures rather than a bureaucracy that has hidden agendas and self-serving motives. The voters of Merced County have a chance to express their frustration and oust the bureaucrats once and for all. Public protest has little or no effect on local elected officials. The almighty vote decides government allocations and funding. The November elections once again will decide who will control spending and the voters will have a chance to command that change.
