Lori Johnson: Atwater’s city hall broken, but Creighton can help fix it
It’s an indisputable fact, Atwater City Hall is broken. The city manager and city council rely on simplistic, Donald Trump-style answers to Atwater’s woes. They identify problems and the desired outcome, all right, but they are clueless in implementing solutions. It’s just one failure after another.
The general fund is in multi-million-dollar deficit; employees remain furloughed; city commissions have been eliminated; street repairs are back-logged to infinity, and residential utility bills have tripled.
Paul Creighton, a candidate for city council, will provide the missing part. His campaign theme is “fix city hall.” Those words are backed with a solid record of achievement. As the Livingston public works director and interim city manager, he helped right a sinking ship. As Atwater’s planning commissioner, he guided the city through difficult times, and as our public works director he got the job done.
Paul Creighton brings experience, competence and a steady work ethic to the table. Most importantly, Paul will be the head of the spear in the effort to fix a broken city hall.
