Re “UC praised for collaboration” (Page A2, Jan. 29): Merced has many challenges that threaten the overall health of our city, but partnerships can help solve these problems. Merced Building Healthy Communities, supported by The California Endowment, is proud to work with several local groups and organizations, such as UC Merced, to create a community with betters schools and more student achievement, safer neighborhoods and parks, and more access to quality health care. We are proud to partner with UC Merced to foster education and networking opportunities for community collaboration. One of the very special characteristics that BHC and UC Merced share is their desire to increase community engagement.
