Pamela Betts: Telling off disrespectful football player

Yes, Colin Kaepernick has the right to protest as an American citizen. But wearing his own clothes and not the uniform of the San Francisco 49ers. And only in America does he have these rights. And the obscene salary he feels he merits as well. Man up, Kap; respect your country.

My family sent many members to many different wars so you would have these rights. When you disrespect the flag, you disrespect the men who have fought for it. That includes my husband, who served in Vietnam and is now disabled. I always felt your ego was overinflated. You’ve proved it. Have a nice day, Kap.

Pamela Betts, Merced

Edtior’s note: Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem at a game in Green Bay on Aug. 26.
