Tostitos Tortilla Chips recalled from Publix, Kroger and other stores in 13 states
The bad news: Frito-Lay recalled 13-ounce bags Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips in 13 states, including Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The relatively good news: Despite including at least two of the nation’s largest grocery sellers, Kroger and Publix, this is a small recall and affecting a very specific group of customers.
Less than 1,300 bags were recalled because they could actually have nacho cheese tortilla chips. While that might seem briefly infuriating to those who don’t like nacho cheese flavor chips, the bigger problem is for those with a milk allergy.
The nacho cheese tortilla chips contain milk. Regular chips don’t. So, the recalled bags have chips with milk in bags that don’t list milk’s presence as an allergen.
“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” Frito-Lay’s recalled notice states.
