The latest listeria pasta dish recall hits Sprouts in Florida, 23 other states
Sprouts Farmers Market has recalled a ready-to-eat pasta salad from stores in Florida, California and 22 other states on the chance it could have listeria.
The recall of Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad sold out of the Grab & Go and service counters at Sprouts grocery stores is the latest recall in the listeria outbreak tracing back to Nate’s Fine Foods of the Sacramento suburb of Roseville.
According to the chain’s recall notice, suppliers Fresh Creative Foods told Sprouts the pasta in the salad might have listeria because it came from Nate’s Fine Foods. Several ready-to-eat and frozen pasta dishes have been recalled from various chains as the CDC and FDA deal with an outbreak that has 20 illnesses and four deaths across 15 states as of the last update.

The most recent update from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on listeria says it infects about 1,250 people in the United States each year and kills about 172. The most vulnerable to the worst effects are adults over 65, people with damaged immune systems and pregnant women. Listeria can cause stillbirths and miscarriages. Most people suffer several days of headaches, muscle stiffness, high fever and flu-like symptoms.
