Aviators set to start playoffs

The Atwater Aviators will open the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League playoffs on Friday against No. 2 seed San Francisco Sea Gulls at 4:30 pm. at Canada Junior College in Redwood City.

The third-seeded Aviators (28-19) won 15 of their final 16 games to qualify for the playoffs by just one game. It’s Atwater’s first postseason experience in 4 years.

The winner of Friday’s game advances to play top seed Top Speed Baseball (47-3) in a three-game series beginning on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Starting on the mound for the Aviators against San Francisco (37-9) is Joe Blair.
