Billy Bob scores big at McHenry Bowl

The Bellevue bunch was rolling again at McHenry Bowl last Friday in their monthly senior 9-pin no-tap. A couple of them did great.

Linda Roach placed in the women’s high game pot with games of 257 and 306. In the women’s overall series she had a 804 series for third place. The men’s side had Ed “Slick” Huddleston in the first high game with a 309 in for third place. The overall series Slick took eighth place with an 829.

Billy Bob Simons found the lanes to his style and in the men’s first high game pot took second with a 313 and a fifth in the third high game pot with a 285. Overall the lanes were good to Simons as he rolled a super 882 set to take first place by two sticks and finished the day with $62 in his pocket.

Up next for all senior no-tappers will be Yosemite Lanes this Friday with their 9-pin no-tap for senior men and women. The action starts at 1 p.m. and your entry fee is only $13. There are separate divisions for men and women in high game pots and series.

Larry Valenti Jr. 290, Kevin Decker 256, Don Gamble 253, Jared Fast 257, Dawn Fernandez 237, Mike Coe 669, Janie Schropp 213, Jesse Andrade 704, Mark N. Thompson 280, Corey Phillips 269, Hugh Gray 263, Laura Ruell 175, and Dennis Gray rolled his third 300 game at Bellevue Bowl.

A seven gamer is coming soon

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Oct. 14 for Bellevue Bowl’s first tournament of the season, a Handicap Singles Seven Gamer. It will be rolling at 11 a.m.

There is a guaranteed $350 for first place based on 40 entries. The tourney is open to all USBC member, men and women. One out of every 5 will cash. You will be rolling 7 games, moving one pair of lanes to the right after each game.

The top five qualifiers will then move to the step ladder finals. Entry is $60 and you will be using your 2017 book average. Entry forms are now available at the bowl. This tournament is not certified by the USBC. Contact Sean McCulloch for more information at the bowl at 209-358-6466.

Tenth annual Don Glover Masters

The 10th annual Don Glover Masters tournament is set for Sept. 30 - Oct. 1 at AMF Southwest Lanes in Bakersfield. The tourney has guaranteed money of $3,000 for first place. There will be only two qualifying squads at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pre-registering by Sept. 25 your entry fee is $125, $140 cash on day of the tournament, and $100 re re-entries.

The tourney is certified by the USBC. More info can be had or you can reserve a spot by calling Bette at 661-345-1629. You will be rolling against the top dogs from Southern California.

McHenry CVABC Double results

The Central Valley Senior Bowling Club doubles tournament held last Saturday had 40 double teams of men and women on the lanes at McHenry Bowl. A prize purse of over $1,760 was paid out to ten places.

The top qualifiers were Mary Morales and Jeff Warner with an 1,880 and Jim Brock and Gene Stamps with a 1,846. In the one game roll-off Brock and Stamps shot a 471 to Morales and Warner rolling a 438. Brock and Stamps received plaques courtesy of Delta-Sierra Beverage as the new doubles champions.

The win was worth $360 for first place and $260 for second. Morales is from Patterson, Warner is from Riverbank, and Brock & Stamps are from Modesto. The club added three new members as Warner of Riverbank, Jacqueline Lackey of Modesto, and Paul Reynolds from Ripon joined the club.

Up next will be a singles event at Bellevue Bowl in Atwater on Saturday, Oct. 21.
