Bellevue Bowlers didn’t fare as well this year at the Summer Jubilee tournament at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno. The only two on the unofficial standing listing had the team of Sylvia Giordano, Kathy Fultz, Mike Robins, and Michael Giordano in 29th place with a 2,633 series.
In the Alibi Doubles the team of Terry Dvorak and Ray Gong finished 31st with a 981 set. No Bellevue bowler placed in the Circus-Circus Doubles Down tournament. The prize fund had not been release yet.
The queen’s birthday
Last Tuesday afternoon our Queen of Bowling in Merced County hit the number 96 for her birthday. The Tuesday Seniors league was rolling when Bellevue Bowl's Patty Harrell started singing Happy Birthday as Betty Brown walked into the bowling center. A few moments later, the whole league joined in as everyone was singing as Brown was greeting bowlers as she walked down the concourse.
A special birthday cake was there and it was shared by bowlers and friends alike during the afternoon. I don’t think the Queen will forget her 96th birthday ever, I know we won’t.
