How locals are faring in the minor leagues
Here’s a list and a quick look at how local players are doing in the minors this season:
Dylan Floro (Triple-A Durham/Buhach Colony) – Floro went the distance, giving up just one earned run, in a 3-2 loss to Norfolk on April 19. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 4.01 ERA. Floro has struck out 11 and surrendered 22 hits and three walks in 242/3 innings.
Curtis Partch (Triple-A Sacramento/Merced) – In his first season in the Giants organization, Partch has made six appearances, throwing eight scoreless innings and recording a save. The 6-foot-5 right-hander has struck out 10 hitters and given up two walks.
Bradin Hagens (Double-A Montgomery/Merced College) – Hagens was traded from the Arizona Diamondbacks organization to the Tampa Bay Rays. He’s off to a good start with a 1-0 record and a 0.73 ERA as a reliever. Hagens has given up one earned run in 12 1/3 innings. He’s recorded 13 strikeouts and allowed four walks and nine hits.
Brett Mooneyham (Class-A Hagerstown/Buhach Colony) – Mooneyham has made one appearance, giving up four runs and absorbing the loss in two innings. He struck out two and walked two.
Derick Velazquez (Class-A Tri-City/Los Banos, Merced College) – The former Tigers and Blue Devils star was drafted by the Astros in the seventh round of the 2014 draft out of Fresno State. Velazquez underwent Tommy John surgery in January and will miss this season. He compiled a 2-1 record with a 1.57 ERA and four saves in 18 relief outings last season for Tri-City.
