Local football and basketball camps available for kids next week

The Merced College football team is hosting the Merced College Blue Devils Elite Football Skills Camp on Saturday, July 7 at the Don Odishoo Field.

The camp is open to kids 6-14 years old and will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $15.

Campers will receive position-specific training from Merced College coaches, players and youth coaches. All kids will receive a T-shirt and lunch.

The Atwater High Basketball Camp featuring former Falcons player Jguwon Hogges will be held on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7 at the Falcons new gym.

There will be two sessions. The first session is for boys and girls 9-13. This group is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The second session is for boys and girls 14-18. This group is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday and 1-4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The cost of the camp is $50.

The camp is designed to teach players fundamental skills and drills while being trained by high school players and coaches and Hogges, who has played 5 years in the German professional league.

There will be registration forms to fill out at the camp.
