After carrying the ball 39 times for 306 yards and two touchdowns, Le Grand High running back Tony Garcia was selected as the Sun-Star Football Player of the Week for Sept. 7.

Garcia received 48 percent of the votes.

The Bulldogs senior edged out Atwater quarterback Isaiah Deleon (28 percent) and Merced receiver Ezra Morales (22 percent).

Other nominiees included Hilmar running back Isaac Sharp and Gustine defensive end Alex Guerrero.
