Former Hilmar star Costa hosting football camp
Former University of Oregon and Hilmar High School star Nate Costa is hosting a three-day football camp at Hilmar High from June 24-26.
The camp is open to athletes entering third grade through eighth grade and will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. each day.
There are no gender or skill level restrictions. There will be an emphasis on football fundamentals and skill development, including running technique and athletic ability improvement.
There will be college, high school and Pop Warner coaches on site. The camp will be non-contact and is limited to the first 100 athletes who sign up. The cost is $75.

Two local golfers record aces
Paul Ybarra and Alvin Penrod each recorded a hole-in-one recently.
Ybarra sank his tee shot on the first hole at Merced Golf & Country Club on May 22.
Penrod, 79, made his second career hole-in-one on the No. 6 hole at Madera Golf Course on May 18. Penrod used his 8-iron on the 120-yard shot, which was witnessed by his wife, Donna.
Penrod’s first ace came in 1993.
Hamm wins Captain’s Trophy
Carol Hamm shot the low round of 70 to win the Ladies 18-Hole Division Captain’s Trophy on May 21 at Merced Golf & Country Club.
Mary Jo Knudsen (73) finished second and Frankie Spiva (75) third in the first flight.
Nancy Slater won the second flight with a round of 72.
