Los Banos football duo earn two major Western Athletic Conference awards from coaches
Two Los Banos High football players earned top awards handed out by the Western Athletic Conference coaches.
Senior running back Justin Incaprera was named the WAC’s Offensive Player of the Year and senior linebacker Adrian Atangan was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year.
Incaprera carried the ball 205 times for 1,801 yards and 22 touchdowns to help lead the Tigers (6-6) to the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
“The season he had was pretty special,” said Los Banos coach Dustin Caropreso. “He was our go-to-guy. Out of all the running backs I’ve had with myself and coach (Dennis) Stubbs coaching, he’s up there with some of the best ones we’ve had with what he’s done this year.”
Atangan led Los Banos with 111 tackles in 10 games before a leg injury shortened his season.
“Before he got hurt, from sideline to sideline, he was one of the better linebackers I’ve seen since coaching here,” Caropreso said.
Davis quarterback Eliajah Davis was named the Most Valuable Player in the WAC. Beyer’s Raul Garcia was selected as the Defensive Lineman of the Year and Johansen’s Jacob Bojorquez was picked as the Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Beyer’s Greg Bockman was named the WAC Coach of the Year after leading the Patriots to the championship.
Los Banos had three players named to the all-WAC first team in quarterback Colby Copp, receiver Landon Ramos and offensive lineman Antonio Serralta.
Pacheco’s Josiah Olson was selected as a first-team offensive lineman.
On defense, Los Banos defensive end Justin Williams, defensive lineman Ryan Subia and defensive back Jacob Johnson all received first-team honors.
Pacheco defensive lineman Lorenzo Gomez also received first-team honors on defense.
Earning second-team honors from Pacheco was running back Dominic Gomez, offensive lineman Isaac Guzman, inside linebacker Andres Rascon and defensive lineman Jason Tui.
They were joined on the second team by Los Banos offensive lineman Ammillio Cortez.
