Roundup: El Capitan, Buhach Colony both pick up CCC wins in boys action.

With leading scorer Dillon Greenwood in foul trouble, the El Capitan High boys basketball team had to look elsewhere for points.

Jacob Reyes and Joe Serena picked up the slack.

Reyes scored a team-high 15 points and Serena added 13 points as the Gauchos held off Atwater 58-50 on Wednesday night in the Stable Center.

El Capitan improved to 10-10 overall and 3-1 in the Central California Conference.

Freshman Colton Dukes paced Atwater (11-8, 2-1 CCC) with 16 points and Robert Smid added 14 points.

Buhach Colony 61, Merced 59 (OT) in Atwater — Gerald Braxton turned in a monster game, scoring 30 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to lead the Thunder (9-9, 2-1 CCC) past the Bears in overtime.

Jake Sapien added 14 points and eight rebounds for Buhach Colony, which hosts Golden Valley on Friday.

Kortez Tyler led Merced (8-11, 1-2 CCC) with 21 points.

Wrestling

Golden Valley 46, Atwater 33 in Atwater — Jaret Mello, Travon Moore, Aristeo Prado, Willie Ward-Williams and Enzo Hermozi all recorded pins to help the Cougars improve to 19-4 overall and 4-0 in the CCC.

The Atwater girls won the girls match 66-18.
