Basketball and soccer NorCal playoffs matchups announced. Who is playing where?

The California Interscholastic Federation office released the regional playoff brackets for Northern and Southern California for basketball and soccer on Sunday.

The Golden Valley boys basketball team was seeded sixth in Division IV and will host No. 11 Santa Teresa (20-7) from San Jose on Tuesday at Cougar Arena at 7 p.m.

The Cougars (24-7) lost in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III semifinals 68-59 to eventual champions Vanden. The Vikings were placed in Division I and will open at No. 8 Clovis West on Tuesday.

After advancing to the finals in Division III, the Merced girls were placed in Divisoin II for the NorCal playoffs. The Bears (27-4) will open at No. 2 Clovis (21-9). Clovis lost to Clovis North 68-65 in the Central Section Open Division semifinals.

The Le Grand girls are the No. 16 seed in Division V and will open at No. 1 West Valley (23-8) in Cottonwood.

Teams that reach the section semifinals qualify for the Northern California basketball playoffs.

Boys Soccer

Section champions Hilmar and Dos Palos were both placed in the Division V field.

The Yellowjackets (18-6) were seeded No. 3 and will host No. 6 Lowell on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

Dos Palos (12-12) is coming off its first Central Section championship in school history. The Broncos are the No. 8 seed and will travel to No. 1 Oakland Tech on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
