Derek Carr and Davante Adams critical of Raiders following stunning loss after hot start

Davante Adams called the Raiders’ latest loss — which Las Vegas led 17-0 before falling 27-20 to the Jaguars — “frustrating.”

It was another shocking loss by the Raiders after the offense dominated in the first half, but for whatever reason that didn’t happen in the second half.

The Raiders’ first three plays were run plays followed by two incomplete passes to Adams and Mack Hollins before punting away as the Jaguars ended up closing out the quarter.

The Jaguars’ offense dominated the time of possession 11:47 to 3:13 in the third quarter.

The offensive spark in the first half fizzled away so quickly.

Adams was obviously upset after the Raiders dropped to 2-6.

“I don’t even know how to really even characterize it,” Adams said. “It’s frustrating because ain’t no way we should be losing games at the rate that we are, let alone the way that we are.”

Is the blame on first-year Raiders coach Josh McDaniels, whom fans want fired already?

Consider this: The Raiders were highly successful attacking the Jaguars secondary with Adams catching the ball nine times for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Derek Carr completed 16 of 21 for 223 yards and two touchdowns.

Bad move to start the second half by running the ball?

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Adams told reporters in the locker room.

He later continued with “the coaches gotta make the adjustments just like the players do. That’s just the way that the game goes.”

Carr was equally frustrated, just like Adams, but carefully chose his words when asked about the blown 17-point lead.

“You know, I think there is a lot I want to say, you know, but if I’m honest, I don’t need to say it here,” he said. “There are things that will be said. There will be things that need to be addressed and all these things. But I think as a whole, the urgency part of it, after 30 minutes of football we have to learn that the game is not over. I feel like I’ve been in this situation a lot where new coaches or this or that and you have to teach the new guys like this is how we do it and this is the mentality.

“There are things in-house that we’ll talk about man to man and all that kind of stuff that could be addressed.”
