Orioles Hilariously Troll Red Sox After Parade of Home Runs
The hits keep on coming for the Boston Red Sox, literally.
Boston sits in last place in the AL East, and the team is tied for the second-fewest wins (nine) and has the fourth-worst batting average (.226) in MLB.
And as bad as all of that is, the Red Sox hit an embarrassing new low in Friday's 10-3 loss to the division rival Baltimore Orioles.
Not only did starter Brayan Bello get chased after 3.1 innings - he surrendered a season-high 13 hits and eight earned runs - but the Orioles hit so many home runs off Boston pitching that the team ran out of fireworks for the celebrations.
The Orioles made sure the Red Sox knew it too - they plastered a message on their video board announcing their firework dilemma.
"No more home run pyro," the message read. "Due to too many Orioles home runs, we have unfortunately run out of fireworks for the night."
Per MLB.com, Camden Yards is stocked with enough fireworks for six home runs each game.
Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, and Dylan Beavers all homered in the first inning to push Baltimore out to an early 4-0 lead.
Samuel Basallo went yard in the third inning, followed by another Rutschman homer in the fourth inning, and a Coby Mayo bomb in the fifth inning, bringing Baltimore's HR total to six.
"It's the best. Guys are just cheering in the dugout, getting excited for each other," Rutschman told reporters. "To be able to have a game like this where guys are barreling balls, just cheering for each other, I think, is pretty cool for everyone to experience and just get excited for.”
The six Orioles home runs were two shy of the franchise record set back on June 15, 2015, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Friday marked the first time Baltimore hit six home runs in a game since a 12-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on March 27, 2025.
