The first full month of the 2026 MLB season is over, and it’s time to go over the divisions to see who deserves accolades and which teams might have already blown their chance at glory in October.
In what was supposed to be one of the most competitive divisions in baseball, the American League East, we’ve seen some favorites live up to the hype, while the reigning league champion Toronto Blue Jays have gotten slow out of the gate.

Biggest Story: The Red Sox Are Terrible (And Fired Everyone)
It’s difficult not to be the top story of the month in your division if you’re outright terrible and then fire all of your staff, including former World Series manager Alex Cora.
Add on top of that ace Garrett Crochet is on injured reserve following a disappointing start to the year, and Roman Anthony is struggling, and there is no optimism to be had in New England.
The AL East MVP: Cam Schlittler (New York Yankees)
Schlittler has been fantastic through the first month of the season and will be a serious contender to win the AL Cy Young if he keeps up this form throughout the summer.
The Winner of the AL East Will Be: New York Yankees
Although there was pessimism following their quiet offseason, I had them as the favorites to win the AL East to start the year, and I’m not changing my mind after a strong April. They’re the only team in their division with high ceilings in both their rotation and lineup.
