Cabrillo softball sees season end in first-round NorCal playoff series | Local Roundup

The No. 7 seed Cabrillo College softball team lost 8-1 to No. 10 Cosumnes River in Game 3 of the teams' 3C2A NorCal Regional first round playoff series on Saturday and saw its season come to a close.

The Seahawks (31-12 overall), the fourth-place finisher in the Coast Conference, lost 10-7 in Game 1 on Friday and won 13-4 in Game 2 on Saturday.

Cosumnes River (25-17), the third-place finisher in the Big 8 Conference, scored four runs in the first inning of Game 3 and never looked back.

Shortstop Ariyah Morgan had two of the Seahawks' six hits, including a triple. Outfielder Renee Parker had a hit and one RBI, and Nick Powell had a hit, one walk, and scored a run.

Second baseman Emma Misasi had three hits, two RBI, and scored a run for the Hawks. Catcher Emily Azemar had two hits and three RBI. Kaylena Ogle and Charlize Fasula each had two hits, one RBI, and scored a run.

Kaylena Ogle earned the complete-game win, and Danielle Keller pitched one inning and took the loss.

Men's tennis

Coast-To-Coast Conference Tournament: The No. 4 Banana Slugs won the doubles point and earned singles wins from Benjamin Wang, Gavin Sontag, and Peter Liang to sink No. 3 Salisbury 4-1 and secure third place in the Coast-To-Coast Conference Tournament in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on Saturday.

Women's tennis

Coast-To-Coast Conference Tournament: No. 3 UCSC lost 4-0 to No. 2 Christopher Newport 4-0 in the Coast-To-Coast Conference Tournament semifinals in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on Saturday.

The Captains won the doubles point, and handed Banana Slugs Chloe Wu, Emily Belezzuoli, and Veronica Miller singles losses when the remaining three matches were called.

The Banana Slugs (8-10) face No. 4 Salisbury (10-6) for third place on Sunday at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

High school baseball

At Harbor 7, Milpitas 6: Pierre Bell reached bases on an infield error and scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch to deliver the Pirates the walk-off win in their nonleague game Saturday.

Logan Felich gave up one hit over 2 2/3 innings of relief and picked up the win.

Joey Raffo had three hits, including a double and scored twice for the PIrates. Aiden Boles also had three hits and scored twice. Evan Lampel had two hits.

Harbor (15-7, 7-4) plays at Soquel (17-3, 9-1) on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

At Santa Cruz 14, Burlingame 9: Senior Caleb Cmaylo had four hits, one walk, two RBI, and scored three runs in the Cardinals' nonleague win Saturday.

Santa Cruz broke up an 8-all game by scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. It finished with 13 hits and six walks.

Senior Cameron Fusari had two hits, including a triple, one walk, three RBI, and scored twice for the Cardinals. Sophomore Micah Mohamed had a hit, one walk, three RBI, and scored a run. Freshman Merrick Smith had two hits, including a double, two RBI, and scored a run, and senior Matteo Caltabiano had a hit, one walk, and scored three runs.

Junior Ben Sakal had three hits, two RBI, and scored a run for the Panthers (14-8). Senior Preet Mallen had two hits, two RBI, and scored twice.

Santa Cruz (11-9, 5-6) hosts San Lorenzo Valley (4-18, 1-9) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

At Half Moon Bay 5, Scotts Valley 1: Sophomore Elliott Smith doubled and scored the Falcons' lone run in the second inning of their nonleague loss Saturday.

Junior Owen Martin had a hit and one RBI for the Falcons, who finished with five hits, drew two walks, and had two batters hit by a pitch.

Junior Bryce McDonnell gave up six hits and five runs, two earned, over four innings and took the loss.

HMB dropped to 12-9.

Scotts Valley (7-14, 4-7) plays at Aptos (10-7, 6-5) on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
