Seahawks May Already be Poised For Another Super Bowl Run

The Seattle Seahawks had a fairytale of a 2025-26 season because, of course, they won the Super Bowl, showing the New England Patriots who’s on top.

But they’re not going to be satisfied with just one Super Bowl. The Seahawks are regrouping for the 2026-27 season, and they’re already looking strong, even without Kenneth Walker III.

So, how strong? In ESPN’s post-draft power rankings, out this week, the publication thinks the Seahawks are poised to enter the season as the No. 1 team in the league.

For the rankings, ESPN asked their NFL Nation reporters to pick which position group has improved the most during this offseason period. They added that their power panel consisting of more than 80 writers, editors and TV personalities analyzed the value of NFL teams against one another, ranking from top to bottom.

The Seahawks are No. 1, according to ESPN, because of their continued strong offense and how they improved on the guard position.

“The Super Bowl champions didn’t lose anyone on their offensive line, returning all 11 players who had at least one snap last season,” Brady Henderson states in the piece. “That group should improve with continuity, and one draft pick could be their biggest addition of the offseason. General manager John Schneider traded a 2027 fourth-round pick to draft Iowa’s Beau Stephens in the fifth round.”

He added: “The Associated Press All-American in 2025 looks like he’ll provide some needed competition for Anthony Bradford at right guard.”

My Take: Why The Seattle Seahawks Are Still No. 1

Heading into the 2026-27 season, I agree that the Seahawks are still No. 1, but it’s not because of their offense. It’s because of their defense.

Mike Macdonald is a defensive-minded coach, and that’s what got them to the Super Bowl. Sure, it helped to have guys like Walker carrying to load, but they say defenses win championships, and that’s what’s happened, and what could continue, under Macdonald.
