Padres minors: Jhony Brito a winner with El Paso; Kerrington Cross leads Storm
Jhony Brito threw five quality innings, leading Triple-A El Paso to a 6-1 win over visiting Reno on Tuesday.
Brito (1-0, 2.00 ERA) struck out four and allowed one run on three hits and a walk. He threw 49 of his 71 pitches for strikes.
Brito is 3-0 with a 2.97 ERA, 25 strikeouts and a 1.14 WHIP in 33⅓ innings across three minor league stops. He missed all of last year following elbow surgery and is continuing to ramp up to give the Padres another rotation option.
Right-hander Evan Fitterer (3.44 ERA) followed Brito with four scoreless innings to earn his first save.
Second baseman Dylan Grego (1.000 OPS) went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Center fielder Carlos Rodriguez (.736 OPS), shortstop Mason McCoy (.805 OPS), first baseman Nick Pratto (.829 OPS) and right fielder Nick Schnell (.840 OPS) all drove in a run.
El Paso is 32-38.

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (37-27)
Storm 2, San Jose 1: RHP Winyer Chourio (2-1, 3.31 ERA) struck out five and allowed a run on four hits and two walks in six innings in the win. 3B Kerrington Cross (1.054 OPS) went 2-for-3 with his 10th homer, two walks and two steals to give him 16 on the year. 2B Jose Verdguo (.718 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
ROOKIE ACL PADRES (18-15)
Padres 13, Dodgers 3 (7): CF Moises Valdez (.859 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double and four runs scored. 3B Luis De Leon (.780 OPS), RF Jesmaylin Arias (.818 OPS), SS Santiago Vargas (.782 OPS) and 1B Jhojan Downer (.759 OPS) all drove in two runs. Downer doubled.
ROOKIE DSL BROWN (4-8)
Reds 11, Padres 9: CF Eliander Primera (.653 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits, including a double. C Jeanfranco Fernandez (.470 OPS) drove in three runs on his double. SS Dawry Guerrero (.795 OPS) and Endy Rios (.785 OPS) both had two hits.
ROOKIE DSL GOLD (10-2)
Padres 17, Red Sox 11 (7): CF Joskairo Ramirez (1.349 OPS) drove in three runs on four hits, including two doubles. Ramirez also swiped two bases. 1B Wilneyker Bruce (1.080 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits.
Padres 10, Red Sox 3 (7): LF Eddson Martinez (1.281 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. RF Cristian Benavides (.901 OPS) and 2B Yorvin Morla (.991 OPS) both had two hits.
Note: Double-A San Antonio was rained out in Corpus Christi and will play a doubleheader on Wednesday.
