Michael Wilbon Rips Giannis Antetokounmpo Amid Trade Rumors
Longtime ESPN personality Michael Wilbon doesn't seem too amused by all the trade rumors involving Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo, 31, has done everything possible during his run in Milwaukee. He led the franchise to a championship, he earned All-Star honors 10 times, and he legitimately revived the fan base. Despite missing time this past season due to injury, Antetokounmpo still averaged 27.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game when healthy.
Over the past month alone, Antetokounmpo has been linked to the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and New York Knicks.
Some NBA fans can't get enough of the trade rumors involving Antetokounmpo. We can't say Wilbon falls in that group though.
During this Tuesday's episode of "Pardon the Interruption," Wilbon made it clear that he doesn't believe Antetokounmpo moves the needle the way he used to.
"I don't believe in Giannis anymore," Wilbon said. "Giannis is a rumor. Giannis hasn't done jack in the months that matter, which would be May and June since 2021. 5 years is forever in professional sports."
Where will Giannis end up?
ESPN insider Brian Windhorst reported this week that Antetokounmpo wants to join the Miami Heat.
"The league believes this is finally going to happen," Windhorst said. "Talks have intensified over the last 7-10 days. He has focused on wanting to be a member of the Miami Heat. Because he has one year on his contract he has some control over that."
Windhorst said the Bucks have not yet loved Miami's trade offers, but Miami remains the No. 1 option for the two-time MVP. For that reason alone, a deal involving these two teams seems inevitable.
