Portugal then defeated Nigeria 2-1 with goals from Pedro Neto and Francisco Conceicao.
DR Congo returns to the World Cup after a 52-year absence, and they also played two friendly matches before the tournament kicked off. Congo drew 0-0 with Denmark and then lost 2-1 to Chile; Edo Kayembe scored the goal for DR Congo.
Both teams are in Group K with Colombia and Uzbekistan, who play each other later tonight.
