Richard Childress Racing Releases Statement on Jesse Love, Wood Brothers Racing Deal

In the past, Richard Childress Racing has not been the most graceful when a driver decides to sign elsewhere. However, RCR has come together to support Jesse Love as he begins to make the transition from NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series driver to a Cup Seriesdriver at Wood Brothers Racing.

When Tyler Reddick made the move from RCR to 23XI Racing, it was kind of a big thing. This time around, RCR has shown appreciation and support for Jesse Love on his next career move.

"Richard Childress Racing is appreciative of Jesse Love's contributions during his three seasons with our organization and wishes him nothing but success in the future," the organization said in a statement. "Jesse is a talented racer, and we are proud to have played a role in his development into a NASCAR champion. All parties remained aligned and committed to defending the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship in 2026."

So far this year, Love and the No. 2 RCR team are second in points. Justin Allgaier has set an unbelievable pace for the 2026 season, but the Chase gives Love an opportunity to close the gap and possibly win the championship for the second year in a row.

As for Richard Childress Racing, it appears that they are taking things slow. Replacing Kyle Busch after his death is a monumental task. It isn't something that should be rushed into. Austin Hill continues to drive the No. 33 Chevy for the rest of the season, and it might end up being his ride for 2027 as well.

Wood Brothers Racing and Josh Berry will go their separate ways after 2026. Berry dropped the news himself a week ago during a media availability. Replacing a 35 year old driver with a Cup Series win is not easy to do. Love will have to learn quickly, and Wood Brothers are taking a chance that his talents will shine through and help move the program forward.

Then again, if Ford can't close the speed gap on Chevy and especially Toyota, then it won't matter who they put in the car. Love is going to have a tough task ahead of him for the 2027 season.

It is great to see Richard Childress Racing being supportive. This team can win another championship if they keep it all together and don't let the news of 2027 become a distraction.
