Yet, throughout his coaching career, there has been one constant, his wife, Beth Thomson

The couple first met in 2002 while Martínez was playing for Scottish club Motherwell and Thomson was studying at the University of Glasgow. As Martínez moved from his playing career into management, their relationship also continued to grow.

Over the years, Thomson has worked as a teacher and author while maintaining a largely private lifestyle.

Meanwhile, Martínez's coaching journey has taken him from Swansea City and Wigan Athletic to Everton, Belgium, and eventually Portugal. Although Thomson rarely seeks media attention, she has occasionally been seen with her husband during major tournaments.
