210 fall athletes to watch over 70 days

Josiah Carranza, North County football: A bright spot in a somber season for the Condors, Carranza led the team in rushing touchdowns and finished as the team’s No. 2 tackler on defense.

A second-team all-league linebacker last year, Carranza will serve as a team captain for North County. A three-year starter, the 175-pounder is explosive when hitting the hole as a tailback.

Alivia Rivera, Marina cross country: The Mariners top returning runner last fall, Rivera earned all-league honors in the Mission Division.

The senior distance ace dipped under 20 minutes at Toro Park, clocking 19:52.0, running over three minutes faster than the previous season.

Emi Okada-Alonzo, Monterey tennis: A three-time Pacific Coast Athletic League champion, Okada-Alonzo will go into her senior season having never lost a league match.

Okada-Alonzo has posted straight set wins in 37 out of 38 league matches as a singles player, reaching the Central Coast Section quarterfinals.
