Brewers Pitcher to Face Braves Riding Hottest Streak in MLB History
Jacob Misiorowski’s start in Atlanta on June 19 is not merely a litmus test for two of the National League’s division-leading teams. It’s a chance to extend the hottest streak by any pitcher in American or National League history.

The Brewers pitcher is 7-0 with a 0.17 ERA in his last eight starts. Misiorowski, 24, has the lowest ERA in any eight-start stretchof at least 15 innings in AL/NL history - topping that of current Atlanta Braves pitcher Chris Sale. The left-hander had a 0.20 ERA over an eight-start stretch for the Boston Red Sox in 2018.
Sale doesn’t start today; the Braves will counter with veteran left-hander Martín Pérez, who’s 5-3 with a 2.90 ERA. In normal times, those would be considered excellent numbers. Misiorowski is overshadowing nearly every other NL pitcher, and not merely because of his 6-foot-7 frame.
Misiorowski is coming off one of the best pitching performances in baseball history. His one-hit shutout on June 12 against the Philadelphia Phillies saw “the Miz” face the minimum 27 batters, throw 95 pitches, and strike out 15 batters.
The right-hander’s 33 ERA- (67 percent below league average) is the best of any pitcher who’s thrown more than 40 innings through June 18; Misiorowski has more than double the minimum threshold (87). He also leads qualified pitchers with a .140 opponents' batting average, 131 strikeouts, and a 39.8 strikeout percentage.

More than what he’s doing, it’s how Misiorowski is doing it that has captured the attention of MLB.
In his most recent start, Misiorowski’s fastball reached 104.5 mph. That’s the fastest by a starter since pitch tracking began in 2008. His four-seam fastball is averaging 100.1 mph; no starter has ever averaged triple digits with their fastball in the pitch tracking era while throwing 400 or more.

The Brewers saw flashes of this version of Misiorowski in 2025, his rookie season. But elevated walk rate (4.2 per nine innings) hurt his effectiveness, and left him with a 4.36 ERA in 15 games (14 starts).
Baseball has seen harder throwers than Misiorowski, but none who throw as often as a starter’s workload demands, and with the same command of his entire repertoire. While the Brewers (45-27) and Braves (46-27) have a chance to jostle for position in the standings, Misiorowski will jostle with history.
