Patriots Fans Claim Tom Brady Is Sabotaging Drake Maye
Do Tom Brady and Drake Maye have unresolved beef? New England Patriots fans certainly think so.
Brady had an incredible run with the Patriots, throwing for 74,571 yards and 541 touchdowns. He's undoubtedly the best player to ever suit up for the franchise. Maye, on the other hand, was an MVP finalist this past season. Although he has a long way to go, it's evident the former No. 3 pick has what it takes to be great.
Unfortunately for Maye, he was on the wrong end of a Super Bowl loss this past season. Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks had every answer for Maye and New England's offense. It certainly helps that he received a few tips from an unnamed source.
"John Harbaugh and I talked," Macdonald said. "He was great. Probably can't mention one guy that really helped us out that had some conflict of interest."
Even though Macdonald didn't mention Brady by name, Patriots fans are convinced he's the one who gave the Seahawks a few pointers.
But why would Brady hurt his former team? According to New England fans, he doesn't want to see the Patriots' new quarterback succeed.
"Brady wants to be the legend in New England," one fan said. "A successful Drake Maye would tarnish his legacy. That's why Brady helped Macdonald."
"Is it just me or does it seem like Tom Brady is bitter that the Pats and Drake Maye went to the SB as quick as they did since he left? Seems like he wants nothing good to happen to tarnish his legacy there," a second fan commented.
"Brady is obsessed with records and is ultra competitive," another fan declared. "He doesn't want any QB or team, especially Drake Maye, and the Patriots to win without him."
Skip Bayless was early on this take.
Before the Patriots and Seahawks even squared off in the Super Bowl, Brady said he had no rooting interest for that matchup. That led to Bayless accusing the seven-time Super Bowl champion of being "jealous" of Maye.
"I always used to call him psycho Tom," Bayless said. "I think he is a little jealous of Drake Maye's golden boy success in a place where he dominated for so long."
If we had to guess, Bayless is feeling pretty good about that take.
