Football Roundup: Stone Ridge Christian blanks Millennium
Stone Ridge Christian pitched their fourth consecutive shutout on defense and ran for more than 500 yards on offense as the Knights’ routed Millennium (Tracy) 68-0 on Friday night at Castile Field.
Jonathan Callazo led SRC with 156 yards rushing. Shane Casillas added 145 and Austin Rees totaled 137.
For the season, Casillas leads the team with 840 yards and 12 TDs, while Collazo (567, 5) and Rees (538, 8) are both more than halfway to the 1,000-yard plateau.
Defensively, the Knight picked off four passes – sophomore DB Bryce Louters returned one 34 yards for a score – and defensive end Mark Hooker, who entered the game as the Sac-Joaquin Section’s leader in sacks (10) recorded half a sack against the Falcons.
Sybrand Vander Dussen had a 2-yard TD run for Stone Ridge Christian, while Nelson Machado turned in a 44-yard score.
St. Mary’s 38, Buhach Colony 3 at Stockton – The Rams raced out to a 31-point lead by the half and cruised to a win.
“There just wasn’t’ much there,” said Thunder coach Kevin Navarra, whose team dropped to 2-3. “They were just more physical than us in that first half. I thought our guys answered the bell better in the second half.”
Alex Andrade led Buhach Colony with 39 rushing yards. Brandon Muse added 35 yards on the ground.
Ceres 64, Livingston 36 at Ceres – Quarterback Chris Lubinksy threw six touchdown passes, including four in a 37-point second quarter, to lead the Bulldogs over Livingston.
The offensive explosion helped the Bulldogs improve to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. Livingston fell to 1-5 overall, 0-2 WAC.
Ceres led 22-7 in the second quarter and put the game away with three straight touchdowns. Lubinksy hit Seth Gibson for a 42-yard TD pass, Austin Stiles for a 44-yarder and then Johnni Smith-Willis scored on a 78-yard TD run. That gave the Bulldogs a 43-7 lead.
Stiles caught four of Lubinsky’s touchdown passes (58 yards, 44, 27 and 35).
Ripon Christian 28, Le Grand 13 at Ripon – Jonah Lewis returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown and later added a 38-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to help the Knights knock off the Bulldogs.
Ripon Christian rushed for 243 yards in the game and were led by Derek Dotinga’s 77 yards. Dotinga put the game away in the fourth quarter with an 8-yard touchdown run that extended the Knights’ lead to 28-7.
Le Grand quarterback Beto Marquez threw two touchdown passes to Jose Renteria of 4 and 40 yards. The Knights (4-1, 1-1 Southern League) held the Bulldogs (0-5, 0-2) to negative 15 yards rushing.
