Stone Ridge advances in NorCal volleyball playoffs
Rachel Kaler recorded 15 kills and Justine DeJager added 11 kills and three blocks as the Stone Ridge Christian volleyball team opened the CIF NorCal Division VI playoffs with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 win over No. 4 Liberty Christian.
The Knights (26-10) advance to Saturday’s semifinal match against top-seed San Francisco Waldorf, which defeated the California School for the Deaf 25-22, 25-14, 25-10.
“Our hitters played smart tonight,” Stone Ridge Christian coach Ken Shaw said. “They picked their weak spots. We didn’t try to overpower the ball. We put the ball where we needed to get kills.”
Tara Silva led with 21 assists and Ellie Ann Vander Dussen picked up 22 digs and three aces for SRC.
Notre Dame 3, Hilmar 0 in Belmont – The Yellowjackets’ season came to an end with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-15 loss to the No. 1 seed in the NorCal Division IV playoffs.
Emily Baptista paced Hilmar (38-10) with 17 kills.
