Moore leads Golden Valley to tourney title

The Golden Valley girls basketball team went 3-0 to win the 21st Annual Lady Cougars Classic at Cougar Arena this weekend.

Golden Valley (4-0) defeated Madera 49-16 in the championship game on Saturday. Senior Stephanie Moore was named the tournament MVP. Teammates Abbee Croninger and Naomi Peterson were named to the all-tournament team.

Buhach Colony rebounded from a Friday night loss to Golden Valley to defeat Beyer 52-47 in the third-place game on Saturday. Thunder senior Kaylee Lynch was named to the all-tournament team.

Boys basketball

Buhach Colony 74, Ceres 67 in Stockton – Jake Walejko scored 20 points as the Thunder (1-2) salvaged the final game of the Stagg Tournament on Saturday. Skyler Coffey added nine points and 10 rebounds for Buhach Colony.
