Surdich on Bowling: Merced County Hall of Fame scholarship winners named
The Merced County Bowling Hall of Fame will award five $1,000 scholarships, including the Joyce Bigham Memorial, to family members of bowlers in our association to help further their education.
The following students will be honored at the annual Hall of Fame dinner April 16 at the Atwater Community Center: Shelby Porter, who was sponsored by Dave Porter, will attend the University of San Diego; Eddora Bustos, sponsored by Barbara Bustos, will attend Merced College; Jordan Campbell, sponsored by Kenna Campbell, also will attend Merced College; and Shaelyn Pugliese, sponsored by Dominic Pugliese, will attend Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock.
The Joyce Bigham Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 award courtesy of Don Belden of Los Banos, is being awarded to Noel Fernandez, sponsored by Dawn Fernandez. Noel will attend UC Merced.
In the past, the Hall awarded only four scholarships. The extra scholarship came about this year from a generous donation of $500 by the Merced/Atwater Women’s 500 Club.
Tickets are on sale for the dinner at $20 from all association directors and at the front desk at Bellevue Bowl in Atwater.
