PBA pros join Vanessa Brown Regional/Pro-Am – The 11th annual Vanessa Brown Homes PBA Western Regional and 9-pin Pro-Am will be June 10 and 11 at Yosemite Lanes in Modesto and will include PBA players.

PBA50 pros Mike Scroggins, Ron Mohr and Harry Sullins and PBA pro Michael Haugen Jr. are scheduled to compete, Gary Mage, PBA West/Northwest regional manager, said in an email. Scroggins won eight PBA Tour titles, including two majors, and has three PBA50 titles. Mohr is an eight-time PBA50 winner and two-time PBA50 Player of the Year. Sullins won five PBA tournaments and is a three-time PBA50 champ.

With the PBA50 Northern California Classic starting Sunday in Brentwood, more pros could stop in Modesto on their way to Harvest Park Bowl. Scroggins, Mohr and Sullins also are entered in the Brentwood event.

The top three will battle it out in a mini-stepladder final, with the winner between Nos. 2 and 3 bowling the No. 1 seed to determine the champion.

Bowlers will receive their winning checks the day of the tourney. The champion will receive a plaque.

Weber sets senior record – Pete Weber set another record by winning his fourth consecutive PBA50 Tour title. Weber was the top qualifier for the stepladder finals, and he went on to defeat Harry Sullins 223-184 in the title match of the PBA Senior U.S. Open in Las Vegas. Weber shared the previous record of three titles in a row with Hall of Famer Tom Baker.

Betty Brown bowled a 721 to win the Classic division honors; Mary Louise Bennett had a 720 to top the A division; Janie Schropp a 695 in the B division; Mary West a 668 in the C division; Laura Daniel a 672 in the D and Geraldine Nichols a 539 in the E division.”
