The Merced College football team received a strong effort from running back Justin Incaprera and the offensive line and the Blue Devils defense produced six sacks and two interceptions in a 21-6 victory over De Anza College in Cupertino on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Devils improved to 2-1 on the season with their second consecutive win.

The freshman from Los Banos, Incaprera, finished with 197 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. He started the scoring with a 1-yard run in the first quarter to give the Blue Devils a 7-0 lead and then he added the exclamation mark on the victory with an 89-yard run to the end zone that extended the MC lead to 21-6 with 3 minutes and 35 seconds left in the third quarter.

The 15-point lead was more than enough for Merced College defense.

The Blue Devils limited De Anza (0-2) to just 303 yards of total offense.

Linebacker Cody Chapman led the way with 10 tackles, including four tackles for a loss. Defensive end Joshua Hickman recorded two sacks for the second consecutive week and Randy Lozano intercepted two passes.

Merced College will host Feather River on Saturday at Don Odishoo Field at 1 p.m.
