MC’s Salcido, Brown turn in career days
Jordan Salcido closed out Merced College career on a high note.
The sophomore turned in the two fastest swims of his career at the CCCAA Swim & Dive State Championships on Friday afternoon, placing 14th in the 100-yard backstroke.
Salcido recorded the second fastest swim in Blue Devil history in the prelims, finishing with a 53.43 for a new personal record. He was just off the pace in the finals, closing his impressive career with a 53.49.
Across the state, Merced College sprinter Taylor Brown had a pretty quality afternoon at the NorCal Trials in Hayward.
Brown took a step closer to state, qualifying for next week’s NorCal Finals in the 200- and 400-yard races. The Merced High alum broke her own school record in the 400 with a time of 53.85.
She’ll be joined at the NorCal Finals by long jumper Nih-Jer Jackson.
