Buhach Colony water polo teams remain unbeaten after sweeping Atwater

The Buhach Colony boys and girls water polo teams are both undefeated in Central California Conference play at the halfway point of the conference season.

The Thunder swept crosstown rivals Atwater on Monday evening at Buhach Colony.

The Buhach Colony boys were led by Luke Bird, who scored four goals and assisted on three others in an 11-8 win over the Falcons (4-2 CCC).

Joe Bustabade added two goals and five steals for the Thunder (6-0). Will Seifert chipped in with two goals and Andres Dalia stopped eight shots in goal.

In the girls game, Erin McBride scored seven times as the Thunder (6-0) defeated Atwater 13-5. Pam Solano added two goals and three assists and Tarveen Takhar finished with nine saves.

Boys Water Polo

Merced 16, Golden Valley 8 in Merced – Nick Eckles led the Bears offensive attack with five goals and goalie Ben Kuykendall recorded 15 saves. Hayden Giebeler and David Chen added three goals each for Merced and Spencer Fluetch had five steals.

Girls Water Polo

Merced 15, Golden Valley 7 in Merced – Madaline Hall paced the Bears with four goals. Emily Trejo scored three times and Maddie Lots finished with 10 saves.

Grace Mello led Golden Valley with four goals, two assists and six steals.

Girls Volleyball

Orestimba 3, Le Grand 2 in Newman – The Bulldogs had their five game winning streak snapped with a five-set loss to the Warriors. Alexis Aguallo led Le Grand with seven kills and teammate Sarah Zuniga finished with 48 digs and five aces.
