Buhach Colony water polo teams remain undefeated with wins over Pitman
The Buhach Colony High boys water polo team continued their quest toward a Central California Conference championship with a 13-4 win over Pitman at Pitman High on Monday evening.
Senior Joe Bustabade led the way for the Thunder with two goals, four assists and three steals. Teammate Luke Bird added three goals and three steals and Will Seifert chipped in with two goals and two steals. Buhach Colony goalie Andres Dalia finished with 10 saves.
Buhach Colony improved to 9-0 in the Central California Conference. The Thunder can clinch at least a share of the championship on Wednesday at home against El Capitan.
El Capitan 8, Merced 6 in Merced – Garrett Thomas scored three goals and came away with six steals to lead the Gauchos past the Bears. Aidan Ramirez also turned in a strong performance on both sides of the pool with two goals and six steals for El Capitan (4-5 CCC).
Girls Water Polo
Buhach Colony 12, Pitman 4 in Turlock – The Thunder girls also remained unbeaten in the CCC with a victory over the Pride. Erin McBride paced the Thunder with six goals, two assists and four steals.
Pam Solano and Ashland Alcorn both had good all-around games for BC. Solano finished with three goals, two assists and five steals and Alcorn recorded one goal, four assists and five steals.
The Thunder host El Capitan on Wednesday in a matchup of the top two teams in the CCC.
El Capitan 11, Merced 7 in Merced – The Gauchos (9-1 CCC) kept pace with the Thunder as freshman Kendall Thomas scored five goals and came away with seven steals against the Bears.
Taylor Conley added two goals and two assists and goalie Grace Miller stopped seven shots in the cage for El Capitan.
Turlock 14, Golden Valley 6 in Merced – Lily Joyner scored three goals for the Cougars and teammate Grace Mello added one goal, two assists and nine steals.
Girls Volleyball
Le Grand 3, Gustine 0 in Gustine – The Bulldogs improved to 8-3 in the Southern League as Alexa Ultreras recorded 11 kills and three blocks in a 25-10, 25-13, 25-13 win over the Reds. Elisa Zarate finished with 23 assists and Sarah Zuniga had 27 digs for Le Grand.
