Atwater High debuts new gym against rivals Buhach Colony

Thursday night was Atwater High’s first opportunity to host its first match in the new gym as Buhach Colony paid a visit.

The Thunder spoiled the Falcons’ home debut with a 25-18, 25-13, 25-12 victory.

Morgan Johnson paced Buhach Colony (9-3 Central California Conference) with 10 kills, four blocks and five digs. Cameron Gray added 14 kills and two aces and Mallory Pazin orchestrated the offense with 30 assists.

Veda Boles led the Falcons with six kills. Jenna Johnston chipped in with 20 digs and Megan Escobar added seven assists.

Los Banos’ Cotta/Azevedo win WAC doubles title

LOS BANOS – The Los Banos team of Kierstyn Cotta and Kiara Azevedo defeated Central Valley’s Guadalupe Bercerra and Elizabeth Valdez 7-5, 6-2 in the Western Athletic Conference doubles finals on Thursday afternoon at Los Banos High.

Cotta and Azevedo will advance to the Sac-Joaquin Section doubles tournament after going 3-0 in the WAC tournament.
